Pre-Approved Provider Application Process  
 
Organizations providing public health continuing education activities may now apply to be a pre-approved providers for CPH CE.

The CPH recertification requirements will be modified in the March 2012. Current requirements can be found at: http://www.nbphe.org/moc.cfm. New requirements, pending final approval, may limit pre-approved CPH CE credits to the following activities:

  • Attendance at public health professional events, including conferences, workshops, webinars, leadership institutes, and seminars
  • Reading of peer-reviewed literature. Provider must facilitate a comprehensive evaluations and scoring method.
  • College or university courses
  • Participation as an Item writer for a CPH study guide or CPH exam

There are three methods for organizations to offer pre-approved CPH CE credits:

  • Single event single institution providers offering a single event – application fee: $50.00 for each event
  • Multi-event single institution providers offering multiple events over a calendar year- application fee: $250.00 per year
  • Multi-event umbrella providers which are a parent organization of chapters or affiliate members. Umbrella providers may administer pre-approval process on behalf of their affiliates/chapters. Umbrella providers will provide a consolidated report to the CPH CE earned on behalf of their member institutions and must agree to review the CPH CE offerings by their members in a manner consistent with the CPH CE pre-approval process. All pre-approved providers must agree that all CPH CE credits are related to one of the domain areas of competency as are found in: http://www.asph.org/userfiles/version2.3.pdf

Provider must provide NBPHE with a detailed list of all CPH CE credits given twice a year. Reports for January 1 – June 30 are due August 15. Reports for July 1 – December 31 are due February 15. Providers should use the “Provider Reporting Form” when reporting CPH CE credit hours earned. All reported information must follow this format. Reports should be sent to info@nbphe.org.

Once approved, providers will be given template materials and instructions for awarding CPH CEs. Providers will be listed on the NBPHE website and in the CPH CE reporting portal.
