CPH International Pilot

Calling all recent graduates of international public health programs!

National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) is launching a time-limited pilot in 2026 that expands eligibility for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam to alumni of graduate-level public health programs located outside the United States that are not accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Under our current eligibility, alumni of graduate level public health degree programs which are not accredited by CEPH must have at least three years of work experience before they can take the CPH exam.  Under this pilot, eligible alumni may take the CPH exam without the usual work-experience requirement.

The CPH is a voluntary, internationally recognized credential designed to assess foundational knowledge across the core domains of public health practice. Since 2008, public health professionals from 95 countries have earned their CPH.

Key points:

  • Pilot is open to alumni of non-U.S., non-CEPH-accredited graduate-level public health programs
  • Participants receive a $135 discount on the regular certification fee
  • Transcripts and résumés must be submitted in English (no external credential evaluation required)
  • Pilot runs through December 2026
