Exam Fees

CDI Exam Fees through September 15, 2026

The CDI pilot project is supported by the CDC through funding opportunity CDC-RFA-CK20-2003 subawarded by ASPPH to NBPHE. As part of the pilot project, CDI exam fees will be waived for eligible candidates through September 15, 2026. The last day to submit an application to sit for the CDI exam or schedule to retake the exam under the fee waiver is September 9, 2026.

Through September 15, 2026, the following fees will be waived:

  • First exam attempt (value $385)
  • One re-take (value $150)

Starting September 30, 2026, the exam fee will be $385. Discounts may be available for public health employers and organizations. More information about the availability of discounts will be available after the pilot phase of the project.

Rescheduling and No-Shows:

There is no fee to reschedule the examination appointment as long as it is rescheduled at least two business days prior to the scheduled appointment. Candidates who reschedule less than two days in advance or no-show their scheduled exam forfeit access to the fee waiver for future attempts. Some exceptions may apply and can be requested by contacting NBPHE program staff at [email protected].

The fee waiver is subject to availability of funds. Exam fees may change at any time.

This project is supported through September 29, 2026, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under Cooperative Agreement No. NU50CK000612 awarded to the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) and subawarded to the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) under funding opportunity CDC‑RFA‑CK20‑2003.
